I Don’t Have The Time

I Don’t Have The Time

How can I Find Time When I Don’t Have The time

Hey there…know this today. YOU aren’t “just a mom”. YOU – mom babe dearest, have more life and depth than you think. Yes you have valid thoughts and opinions. Of course you are worth your own time. You have quirks, talents, and funny flaws. You can dig deep without having to overthink things in order to share more about yourself and how pretty amazing you are.

Are you with me on this? Can we now stop wallowing and being so down on yourself and using the age old excuse of “I don’t have the time”?? You make time for what’s important, and well, YOU are important. So firstly and all importantly no workout would ever be possible without it, I hope you love these mom-friendly workout clothes as much as I do! Here’s to keeping up with our kids and taking care of our health with these fun looks. 🙂

I’ve gotten a few questions about making time for fitness. Yes in general as moms, we spend our days taking care of other people and I get how there seems like there isn’t any time for a workout. Yes treading this very lightly I’m going to have to say there is no right answer that would work for everyone since we all have different demands and journeys each day. However consider this perspective on tackling ‘time’ issues, I hope it helps you out somehow.

Identify Clarify Rectify

My favourite time of the day to workout: Although Morning is prefered because TBH getting it out of the way and getting pumped up for the day is always best however this good intention seldom ever work out for me. Yes, if you can and before anything piles up its good to fit a workout in early. For me especially this second half of the year has me on regular evening workouts (just before preparing dinner) – fits me just right.

My sneaky fitness trick: I have learned to double up on strengthening by doing something else while I lift weights (like stand on a weight or sit on an exercise ball for core or do squats along with biceps, etc.) More bang for the buck and less time which is key for me!

Why I workout: My workouts are my sanity. It’s “my time” to push so hard I can’t think about anything else; work, kids, “to do” lists, they all take a backseat at least for a short time. If I don’t exercise, I get grumpy (just ask my husband) and feel less useful etc. I also thrive on being healthy, as does my husband, and we want to emulate that for our children.

Get Comfy

Favourite fitness brand (shoe, apparel, etc.) : I am a NIKE girl for running and training shoes, but love Adidas and PUMA apparel. Also I LOVE MGF Activewear for casual workout clothes that are so cute! Of course my t-shirts are great for sweats too. Do check out my t-shirt mix here.

I’ve been toying with the idea of boxing this year to keep my routine fresh. But also have intentions to reignite my weekly Zumba/Salsation sessions just for spice! Of course I have Zumba t-shirts to do Zumba in you can have one too.

Best workout song ever: I am a music lover and have a variety of workout playlists in my new SPOTIFY account. Music can make or break a run or a workout for me. As long as it has some good bass and a fast beat, I can make it work

A typical week’s worth of workouts looks like:

Monday: Strength Lower Body
Tuesday: LISS
Wed: Strength Upper Body
Thurs: Fullbody Tabata
Friday: Zumba/Salsation/Boxing
Saturday: Recovery Stretches
Sunday: rest

I stay motivated by: Changing it up. Some trainers on my SWEAT app have devised “challenges” which incorporates performance programs into the workout week. Maybe its to try a new class each week, do crunches and pushups every day, drink water, and several other goals. I love having something new to reach for and mix up the old stale routine.

The Takeaway

We can agree life as mom means wearing lots of hats. You play a critical role in the lives of your kids, partner, coworkers, and clients, and taking care of them requires you to take excellent care of yourself, first. I do think that when you prioritize your fitness, you get proactive about creating and maintaining the best version of yourself and insisting on a healthy and well-balanced life – for you and everyone who loves and counts on you.

While finding time to work out during a hectic day can and always will be challenging, the secret is just getting serious about making time. I hope the tips in this post will help you find the space, and time.
