The Sweat Challenge begins Monday 9 Jan 2023. and today I share the 5 things that I do when getting myself ready for fitness challenge. (SWEAT app). You can say, It’s that time again where I kind of “recommit” to my health and fitness goals. Healthy living is a constant for me but I definitely go in phases with how focused I am. For now, it is finding enjoyment in the process. And I am hoping that these 5 things will help me gear and shape up.

Okay, back to what I do for fitness challenge prep…
I actually follow the workout plans and challenges that I share with you on this blog. FYI Something that remains central to me and my blog is that what I do to lead a healthy, happy lifestyle is actually what I share. Big plus all around because when sharing the challenge content with you, I get pumped as I get to focus in on my personal fitness commitments too. And well for the first 2023 SWEAT challenge I am planning to dive deeper into weight training, healthier eating, definitely my overall health regimen and my mental health.… here are the 5 things I will be looking into.

Gut Health
For me, keeping interest in healthy living comes, in part, from diving deeper into health related things including gut health. Some thing I’m going to look into more and stay consistent with are nourishing my body with pre/probiotics, anti-inflammatory foods (ginger being my fav!) and fiber. Yes, FIBER! That is something I’m going to be majorly focusing on! and I will be using this Fiber Fueled cookbook
SAME TIME OF THE DAY WORKOUTS
When I get on to the SWEAT programs, I do not miss a day. When I think back on what has helped me stay so consistent, 2 things come to mind -> 1) the shorter 30 minute workout length and 2) that I worked out every day at the same time.
Here is my thought on what time of the day is best to workout -> whenever you can get to the gym! 😀 For me, it’s important to pick a time and then stick to that time almost every day. That’s how it becomes habitual. For 5 years (coming up to) now I worked out mid afternoon (according to my planner on the app) I do my cardio days in the morning and it’s just part of how I begin my day. It becomes a habit which makes it easier for me to stay consistent. I’ve slacked recent months a bit, but for the challenge, I’m going to go back to my mid afternoon workouts and morning cardio.

Collagen
I take 1 serving of Vital Proteins Marine collagen, every other day because yes I believe the hype! The first results I noticed since starting collagen were my skin and joints. The skin results, are exciting because I do see the difference. I don’t have perfect skin but I feel like my skin has improved. It is more vibrant. It felt so dull before but now, it seems like it has more life and glow.
My lower back and knees used to bother me sometimes. Having done INTENSE workouts my joints were obviously tested. I haven’t had any issues and discomfort, which is a change from the months prior to taking collagen. I’ve added some brisk walk lately too and that hasn’t been a bother to my joints since I’ve been using collagen either. If you’re interested to know what increasing the servings does! Return to my blog for updates. Nope doesn’t hurt one bit getting myself ready for fitness challenge by upping the serve to once a day.
Routine Revamp
There’s so much ‘chatter’ about morning routines online. And Yes in my opinion, it’s worth every word written about it. I got myself into personal development, and was introduced to the term “golden hour.” The golden hour refers to the first hour of your day. It’s so important to use the golden hour wisely because what you do during that golden hour sets the tone for the entire day.
Have you ever had a crummy morning? Does the rest of the day seem to follow that negative vibe? That’s almost like the default but I’ve learned over the years if we are proactive in the morning, we can set our day up nicely. I update my morning routine and journal my thoughts even if it’s just 10-15 minutes, I just want to establish things that I do habitually and create a day of productivity and positivity.

SPRING CLEANING
This is something else I’ve been wanting to post more about. I have realised that the state of my home, office, car, and even purse matches the state of my mind when it came to order. Whenever my house was a mess, my life felt that way too. Whenever I felt in the flow and focused, I noticed my outer world (office, car, etc.) was neat and tidy. I feel there is something to be said about decluttering your mind and life.
Being a tidy and organised person does not mean I want to spend a full week deep cleaning my home. I mean I would love that but I don’t want to be the one doing that 😀 (I Know you get it)
I do things little by little. For example, one evening, I cleaned out and organised my handbag shelve. And that’s all I did that night. A few days later, I cleaned out the bathroom drawers. This approach gets the job done minus the overwhelming feeling. Yes it relates to me getting ready for fitness challenge coming up where, I hope to have my health and fitness spaces (ie: closet, fridge, pantry, home gym, etc.) organised and keep it organised.
Well those are just a few things I’m focusing on and doing for the upcoming challenge. Finally, be sure you sign up , grab the Premium Challenge Program. That is if of course if you haven’t already.
Looking forward to beginning on Monday! am getting myself ready for fitness challenge What’s your chosen program?
